In July 2012 the United Nations held a Diplomatic Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty. The Control Arms coalition calls on citizens to governments required a robust and effective legally binding owasp agreement that protects human rights, life and livelihoods.
The current lack of regulation of the global trade in conventional arms and ammunition exacerbates open conflicts, increases poverty and encourages committed human rights abuses. So says Control Arms Control (Arms), a movement of civil society, shaped by many organizations since 2003 calls for Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) that protects lives and livelihoods. Looking at a Diplomatic Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty, which will be held from 2 to 27 July at the United Nations headquarters in New York, this initiative has published a petition that everyone can sign and send to governments , asking them to agree to an ATT in July to protect human rights, lives and livelihoods.
