With an abundance of music constantly in the palm of our hand, so too comes an abundance of portable Bluetooth speakers. The NudeAudio Super-M is the latest to join the herd, and the most recent product out of the portable speaker company.
Originally, Nude sold a basic Bluetooth speaker in three sizes: small, medium, and large. The M, the medium-sized version, was the best seller by far and so the team decided to put as much audio power in that form factor as possible.
They ended up putting four full-range neodymium drivers a device measuring 5.7 x 3 x 1.1 . They placed intercom two drivers on each side of the speaker, intercom with each pair getting its own passive radiator. Paired with Bluetooth 4.0 and an eight-hour lithium ion battery, NudeAudio argues that the Super -M beats out the JamBox in performance.

Drop Messages, the winner of the TechCrunch Boston Pitch-Off , has today announced the close of a $1.25 million seed round led by Atlas Ventures hidden cameras and Spark Capital hidden cameras . The location-based messaging platform has also introduced a new version of the app alongside the announcement.
Drop Messages hidden cameras , for those of you who haven t heard yet, is an app that lets you leave or send messages to people who are all based around location. The recipient won t get the message, or Drop, until they are in a specified geographic location.
The update might feel incremental, but could signal a shift in the user experience. Instead of offering a chat-like platform, Drop s group messages turn the app into a sort of feed or social network, wherein users can comment and like Drops as they receive them wandering about in the world.
The team will be using the funding to expand the business and pick up new users. And speaking of the funding, it s worth mentioning that the Drop team first met Atlas Ventures, their new lead investors, on stage at the TC Pitch-Off.

Over the last few years we ve seen a number of startups appear that would like to bring the market power of the Internet to bear on a traditionally tough market: car repairs. We re all too aware of the obvious issues to be solved: the lack of consistency and transparency, and the difficulty of vetting both the work of the garage and its customer service before juxtaposition you entrust your vehicle to them.
RepairPal juxtaposition has been around since 2007 and has raised $21.3M to date. Last year OpenBay launched juxtaposition its auto repair marketplace to connect car owners with local mechanics. YourMechanic wants to be the Uber of mechanics , sending you one on call. And BodyShopBids won funding for a site that allows consumers to solicit juxtaposition custom auto repair estimates by uploading a photo.
Now Autobutler , an online platform for car maintenance and servicing, has raised 5.8m in a round led by Index Ventures. Index lead the round with participation from existing investors including Dawn Capital and Nordic venture capital firm Creandum. The funds will be used to expand across Europe, starting with Germany and the UK.

Financial Management Platform 8 Securities Closes $9M Series B
Stock trading and financial management platform 8 Securities has closed a $9 million Series B to support its expansion in Japan and China. Returning investors include Velocity Capital and Leitmotiv Private Equity.

The president and chief executive of Formula One agreed smith and wesson with German prosecutors on Tuesday to pay the record sum to end his trial, a district court in Munich confirmed. The defence has denied accusations that he had bought his freedom.
"This trial has been going on for two days a week and it was going to go on until October. When you're trying to run businesses it's not easy trying to resolve things when you're dealing with lawyers.
The Munich court said in a statement that $99m ( 59m) would be paid to the German treasury and a further $1m to a German children's hospice charity. The money will be paid within a week, it added, after which the trial will officially be abandoned.
"The abandonment is neither a 'deal' nor a 'settlement', even less so a 'buying out,'" said Ecclestone's defence team in a joint statement. Prosecutors said they had based their decision partly on the defendant's age and willingness to cooperate.
Ecclestone was accused of having given Bayern Landesbank's chief risk officer, Gerhard Gribkowsky, $44m in 2006 in order to ease the sale of the bank's share to a company that had guaranteed to keep Ecclestone as chief executive.
Throughout the trial, Ecclestone admitted paying the money but denied it was a bribe, saying he paid it to silence Gribkowsky who had threatened to report him over irregularities in his tax affairs. Gribkowsky was sentenced in 2012 to eight and a half years for tax evasion, breach of duty and accepting bribes.
In a statement explaining its decision to abandon proceedings, the court said it had "considerable doubts" that Ecclestone knew Gribkowsky had held the position at the German state bank at the time of the alleged bribe.
Last week Ecclestone's legal team informed the court that he was willing to pay 25m ( 19.8m) to Bayern LB in a separate smith and wesson settlement. The bank, which had been seeking 400m in damages from Ecclestone, had rejected an earlier offer of 50m in 2012, the Süddeutsche Zeitung reported.
German law provides for some criminal cases to be settled with smaller punishments, such as fines, though the size of the payment in the Ecclestone case has led some to question a system that in effect favours rich defendants. smith and wesson
