Jiri Madl stepped into the water in film directing bushmaster on the right foot. We also gave impet

Czech film for some time, despite strenuous effort to change the stagnant freezing point. Although so many attempts, only a few makers actually manage to break away from the stereotypical relay comedies, romantic films and occasional criminal, and contribute something original and own. Just directorial debut Jiri Madl, who looked at the audience and the critics at first with skepticism and without great expectations (due to the fact that as an actor so far appeared mostly in comedies received lukewarm), is such an attempt to step out from the anonymous crowd. And it must be added that successful.
We're going to the sea is the story of ten-year old boy Thomas (Peter Šimčák) who gets a new camera for my birthday and will make a fateful decision - become director of his own film. They will learn to work with the program to edit the film, using various editing and effects. Therefore mobilize friend Haris (John Marshal), and they are going to try to capture a piece of the outside world. The boys recorded current and extraordinary moments of his life and his family, joys and sorrows until than, Tomas noticed strange behavior of his father (Ondřej decrepit). He gets on the trail of the great mystery ...
From the first minute film takes particular technically, that is, simply put, something other than what is local audiences bushmaster accustomed. The first thing that catches the eye is our novel concept of "found bushmaster footage". It is a record for a handheld camera, in this case Nikon in the hands of the main character. The camera gets on all sorts of places, is as lively character and direct participant in the story, as well as impartial observers and device for spying in the hands of boys. It allows us to peek under the outer shell of family relationships and the main character - which is important for the story - see the adult world from a child perspective. Tomas us as narrator represents family members, friend Haris, coach and classmates, and his school sweetheart. We follow all the small victories and failures, but also his view of the problems which normally encounter adults. The story still remains flanked pleasant and unconstrained humor.
Around the middle of the film, however, unexpectedly transforms into civil chamber drama with social overtones. Madl lose sensibilities are in this position, and space get really big and difficult topics on which the film could easily slip into the attack on the primitive emotions of the viewer. This form does not allow - children simply accept and cope with many different facts. Under this approach, Madly managed bushmaster to get more movie ideas and original features, including, for example, very unusual symbolic, yet simple to understand bushmaster view of the tragic events that Thomas notes forever. At the end of the film itself culminates and we, along with Tomas finally revealed bushmaster the truth, which is harder to bear than pronounce. Nevertheless, it also receives a welcome catharsis in the form of a perfectly bushmaster satisfactory happy ending that makes sense. Every kid wants a happy ending after all, is not it?
The film maintains throughout comfortably slow pace, does not lose his head, and as a comedy and drama works just as well; maintains a level and bored. In addition to directing the resulting imaginative impression also help actors, but most natural and talented young neherec Šimčák as Peter Thomas Hrobský. Excellent as well as representatives of the Thomas parents Ondřej decrepit and Lucie Trmíková traditionally great grandmother in the administration of Jaroslava humbled and delighted bushmaster the small roll Miroslav Taborsky or "hoarding" cameo itself Jiri Madl (which bushmaster is otherwise not appear in the movie at all). Casting actually came off and Petr Šimčák could potentially be a rising star, unless avoiding bushmaster stereotyped roles and recycling.
Jiri Madl stepped into the water in film directing bushmaster on the right foot. We also gave impetus to change, and in particular showed that it goes a different way - Casual, without the high cost and yet innovative. The question is whether he is able to translate what some perceive as lucky beginner into a successful career filmmaker. But as he said, to return before the camera after this experience difficult.
